Steam launched a real-time steam charts section which is a very new and very prominent section of charts, replacing the basic stats page. it is dedicated to ranking the most popular and top-seller games on the platform.
For years, players had to turn to third-party websites to view data about different games on Steam. Websites like Steam DB, Steamspy, or SteamCharts provided all the gaming analytics for Steam. Now, Steam has decided to provide its real-time service from actual stats and give players a better idea of what is top trending on Steam.
An overview of Steam Charts
On the first page of the chart, Steam added an online players graph, top 5 selling games, and top 5 most played games on the platform. The graph displays the total number of currently online players and the number of online players during peak hours. People can also view the exact number of players at a specific time for the previous 3 days. At the end of the page, people can view weekly top-selling games and top new releases of the month.
When you click the Top Sellers section of Charts, it displays the top 100 selling games in terms of revenue. This section displays the game’s rank, price, any changes in rank from the previous week, and the number of weeks it has been on the top 100 charts. People can switch from global to regional to see the trend in a specific country.
Steam’s most played section of the charts displays the top 100 games with the most number of players. You can also view current and daily players.
Weekly top seller shows the top 100 games with the highest revenue for that week, updating every Monday at 10 am pacific time. Weekly chart analysis has complete data dating back to 2005 when Half-Life 2, Counter-Strike, and Counter-Strike: Source were the only games available.
