The well-known video-sharing app TikTok is now entering the gaming industry. In an effort to keep users engaged with the platform, TikTok has been investing in games, testing them on young audiences in Vietnam, and incorporating minigames within the app for the past five months.
Recently, the company announced intentions to launch a gaming channel. According to a Financial News report, the TikTok app will feature a new gaming tab where users can play various games.
They will be able to access the games by just clicking a button on the homepage. There will be a wide variety of games available to the users.
Since 2019, Tiktok has been in the games industry, offering games to Chinese users. But this time, a major announcement is anticipated within the next week.
In May, Tiktok started testing its new feature. As Tiktok said, “We regularly test new concepts that we believe might benefit our community and are continuously searching for ways to improve our platform.”
Before the launch, the service moderators in Europe were tasked with thoroughly testing this new feature. This feature might be unveiled on November 2nd, during TikTok’s first-ever international gaming event.
The decision was made at an interesting time, given Netflix has just entered the market and both Snapchat and Facebook seem to be stepping back from the gaming space.
