The game is currently on sale on Steam for an incredible 88% discount, which most likely contributed to all this, but the count of active players is still astounding.
Another reason is the overall negative response of the Battlefield community to Battlefield 2042. Players had critiqued the game when it first came out for lacking intriguing maps, redesigning the traditional Battlefield class system, and failing to release frequent, major updates.
