Earlier today, Hyperkin unveiled a Microsoft-approved replica of the original Xbox 360 controller that can be used with current Xbox consoles and Windows PCs. The original Xbox 360 controller is receiving a successor over two decades after its debut.
This isn’t the first time Hyperkin has brought back an Xbox controller from the dead. The Hyperkin Xenon is a wired controller that mimics the Xbox 360 controller from 17 years ago.
The Xenon Xbox controller feels a lot like the original, right down to the form and two-tone color scheme. You’ll be able to choose from black, white, pink, and red Hyperkin Xenons. It also retains some of the more modern Xbox controller features, such as Capture, Menu, and View buttons.
There’s the same D-pad from the original controller, which was widely criticized for being too mushy and inaccurate. Still, otherwise, it’s a very conventional controller with face buttons, analog sticks, bumpers, and triggers.
Along with the 3.5mm jack, there’s also a USB-C port to plug in a headset. Compatible with Windows 10 and 11, the Hyperkin Xenon is a great option for retro gamers who miss their controllers’ old-school feel.
There’s no risk of getting a fake or a clone because it’s an authorized Microsoft product. Inflation probably won’t spare Xbox 360 accessories; however, Hyperkin will likely launch the Xenon controller early in 2023.
