The Game Awards is one of the most famous events in the gaming industry since it blends award-giving with major announcements and first-look trailers.
The Game Awards’ top prize went to Elden Ring, an enormous dark fantasy game developed by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George RR Martin.
“God of War Ragnarok” may have received more nods, but “Elden Ring” took home the evening’s biggest award for the best video game. It won four Game Awards, including best game direction, best art direction, and best action/adventure game.
As a whole, God of War: Ragnarok won five awards, more than any other game. It also won awards for best story, best music, best sound design, and most groundbreaking accessibility feature.
Due to the ceremony’s tradition of showcasing upcoming games, the Game Awards show has become a must-see for the industry’s fan base. According to reports, last year’s ceremony was viewed by 85 million people throughout the world.
This year’s event was jam-packed with surprises, such as sneak peeks at “Star Wars: Jedi Survivor,” “The Super Mario Bros. movie, “Final Fantasy XVI,” “Dune: Awakening,” “TEKKEN 8,” “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty,” and “a variety of other games.”
Along with an early peek at the Mushroom Kingdom in the upcoming Super Mario Brothers movie, Hideo Kojima announced a sequel to Death Stranding, starring Norman Reedus and Lea Seydoux.
In Cyberpunk 2077’s latest expansion, Idris Elba was confirmed as a performer.
A sequel to the award-winning game Hades and a brand-new Crash Bandicoot adventure named Crash Team Rumble was announced for the first time at this event.
Lots of trailers for upcoming games, including Street Fighter 6, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, and Final Fantasy 16, were also announced, and their respective release dates were disclosed.
At the end of the show, an unknown individual took over the microphone before being led offstage by staff. Host Geoff Keighley tweeted after the ceremony that the person had been arrested.
