Sony revealed the accessibility controller Project Leonardo for the PlayStation at their CES 2023 presentation.
Sony has revealed that it is working on a new controller kit with the objective of making the pleasure of gaming accessible to more people.
Project Leonardo’s goal is to “eliminate barriers to gaming and let players with disabilities play more freely, more comfortably, and for longer durations on PS5.”
The disc-shaped controller has 8 PS5 buttons, and a joystick attached, allowing for extensive customization. Sony briefly discussed the device during the presentation.
Still, it seems to be a hub with interchangeable parts and plates that allow users to connect other devices like air tubes, pedals, and switches of all kinds to engage different buttons.
You can use it by itself or combine it with a DualSense controller for even more options. The ergonomic design of the controller means that it may be used hand-free by simply setting it down on a flat surface or mounting it to a tripod.
On their official Twitter, PlayStation posted a video highlighting the importance of making video games available to everyone.
The pricing and release date of the controller has not yet been disclosed, as Project Leonardo is still in development.
