Reportedly, two new Far Cry games are in the works, one of which is a multiplayer version. The Far Cry series is a cornerstone of the Ubisoft formula and one of the company’s most successful games.
Fans have always been enthusiastic about it, and recent improvements like co-op have only boosted its popularity. The last entry in the series came out in 2021.
Apparently, the two games started out as a single title but were later divided during development.
Internally, Far Cry 7 is apparently known as “Project Blackbird,” while the multiplayer game is known as “Project Maverick.”
Any way you look at it, it seems like we have a lot of Far Cry stuff coming our way. Speculation has it that Project Maverick, like Call of Duty: Warzone, will be a free-to-play offering from Ubisoft, given the company’s growing emphasis on F2P.
The earliest we can hope to see either Far Cry game is in the fall of 2025.
