Today, developer Respawn announced that the April release date had been confirmed for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The delayed release date of April 28 has been announced for the sequel to 2019’s critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
This is the second major game delay announced for 2023; just a few weeks earlier, Ubisoft announced that Skull & Bones, which has been stuck in development hell for the sixth time, would be postponed again. These two games were intended to be released in March, but that month is currently looking very empty.
The studio asserts that the game’s content is complete and that it is currently in the final stage of development. Respawn continues by saying that the sequel is a “direct response” to player feedback from the original game and that the studio “pushed ourselves at every level” to make it better.
The revised release date is only six weeks after the original one, so it’s not a significant delay. Stig Asmussen, who was in charge of making the game, said that the usual need for more polishing was to blame for the delay.
With this change, Survivor will no longer compete with Resident Evil 4 Remake, but will instead face the releases of Minecraft: Legends and Dead Island 2.
