Steam’s new favourite game is Sons of the Forest. Despite being an independent game developed by a small company, Endnight Games’ survival horror game made news by topping Steam’s wishlist. But despite the game’s several delays, it didn’t appear to matter to many individuals because the numbers kept increasing. The nearly two-year-old gameplay trailer did wonders with its gorgeous graphics and fluid animations.
Now, the game has already been released in Early Access, and reviews have been very positive. Within hours of its launch, it reached 250,000 concurrent gamers and has 18,000 very positive Steam reviews. The game has still accomplished yet another enormous feat, one that surpasses the earlier ones. Sons of the Forest’s creator, Endnight Games, claims that within one day of its release, 2 million copies had been sold. According to a tweet from Endnight, “We have sold over 2 million downloads in the first 24 hours and are very thrilled for what we have in store for players in the next few weeks.
In addition to the abandoned island with terrifying monsters, resource management, and base building, it appears that Kelvin, your AI buddy, is one of the game’s most well-liked elements. He can’t complain, so he will do whatever you ask of him with the utmost diligence and without complaining. Gamers fell in love with him right away, but many also experienced betrayals of their trust. It turns out that if you ask the NPC to get some wood, he’ll occasionally chop it out of your base and wreck it. It’s unclear whether this is a bug or simply how Kelvin was created.
Just to keep you informed, there are currently 296,339 players participating in Sons of the Forest as of the writing of this article.
