A new Persona 5 spin-off game has been revealed, and Chinese developer Perfect World will be bringing it to mobile. The game Persona 5: The Phantom X, featuring the original Phantom Thief team, will be set in the same universe as P5.
The gameplay will be an exact replica of Persona 5, but optimised for mobile users. It will be a free-to-play game with in-app purchases for specific items.
The original band of Phantom Thieves will still present in the game, but a new group of them will. Black Wings Game Studio, a Perfect World Games subsidiary based in China, developed The Phantom X, but according to Persona Central, the mainline Persona creator Atlus was also involved in the project.
Even though the final release date has not yet been announced, a public test is scheduled for March 29. Persona 5: The Phantom X’s English localization’s availability has not yet been determined.
Fans of Persona 5 will recognise many elements of the spin-off because the game’s first video reveals that several settings from the 2016 title, such as Shibuya, the batting cages, and Mementos, will make a comeback.
The Phantom X follows many of the same rhythms as Persona 5. As seen in the first gameplay trailer, the main character attends class and maintains his social life while battling Shadow demons in the Tokyo metaverse. The narrative will centre on a different group of Phantom Thieves. A few of the characters from the game are also revealed on the website. The main character is a young lad who is in his second year of high school at Kiba Academy and is living alone because his parents are away. When his persona powers are activated, he leads an alternate existence. Good so far, Persona. A happy young lady who is popular and talented in athletics is also there, as is another animal figure, this time an owl.
