The lengthy trial period for Microsoft‘s Xbox Game Pass subscription service is now over. Users could test out the programme for just $1 before moving to more expensive payments.
“We have stopped our previous introductory offer for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “In the future, we are evaluating different marketing promotions for new members.” According to The Verge, the offer—which was valid for both the PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate—was just withdrawn.
The Xbox Game Pass Friends and Family programme, which is currently unavailable in the US but has been tested in a number of international markets since late 2022, would seem to be a logical choice given that the $1 deal’s entire purpose was to hook new customers. Who knows what those “different marketing promotions” may be, though.
For everyone who has signed up for Game Pass, partial months from previous subscriptions will be separated. Your Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription will be changed into 18 days of Game Pass Friends and Family for any remaining months. The component tier subscribers’ memberships will be changed into 12 days of Game Pass Friends and Family.
But, there are certain limitations. If you are the account holder, you are only permitted to share with eight different accounts every calendar year, and you are only permitted to have four additional users on any particular account at any given moment. Also, only people who live in the same country or region as the primary account holder may be added.
