Hey fellow gamers, have you heard the news? Activision, the owner of Call of Duty, is collaborating with Arcane Wonders to create a board game version of our fave military shooting game! The game will be called “Call of Duty: The Board Game” and is set to launch on Kickstarter later in 2023. We don’t know much about it yet, but it will take us back to basics with some good old-fashioned table-top excitement. Move over Monopoly, there’s a new game in town!
“Get ready for the ultimate Call of Duty tabletop experience! We’re excited to announce the upcoming release of Call of Duty: The Board Game, a thrilling new strategy game based on the popular video game franchise,” says the blurb.
“With intense combat, tactical planning, and stunning artwork featuring miniatures of iconic soldiers and weapons from the series, this game is sure to satisfy any Call of Duty fan.”
This board game, created by Arcane Wonders, will be set in the same era as the 2019 game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and will feature familiar maps and weapons. While gameplay details are yet to be revealed, the creators have promised a focus on tactics and strategy. It is unclear how the game will differentiate itself from other tabletop strategy games, but it is expected to utilize popular campaigns and maps from the franchise.
“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Activision to bring the ‘Call of Duty’ franchise to the tabletop,” said Arcane Wonders designer and CEO, Bryan Pope. “As lifelong COD fans, we’ve worked hard to capture the scope, stakes, and sheer intensity of the video games in ways that COD fans and board gamers new and old will love. We’re looking forward to bringing the unforgettable fun and competitive frenzy of COD to game night for years to come.”
COD fans can look forward to the appearance of the franchise’s most iconic characters. This board game is expected to be a major expansion for 2020’s Modern Warfare 2 but hopefully there won’t be any additional purchases required to gain an advantage.
The base game is expected to cost around $50 for two players, and multiple sets can be combined for larger four-player matches.
